There are four official GTA 6 videos, and none of them is called Trailer 3. The newest is the Launch Trailer, released on October 15, 2026 with new music from Justice.

Trailer 1 arrived in December 2023 and broke YouTube records. Trailer 2 followed in May 2025. The third is not called a trailer at all: Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026 and was shot on PS5. Below is each video's date, what it confirmed and the numbers that came with it. Our GTA 6 countdown shows the time left in your own time zone.

If a "GTA 6 Trailer 3" shows up in your feed, check it against the table first.

GTA 6 trailer 1: December 2023 and the Guinness record

Rockstar's Newswire post for Trailer 1 is dated December 5, 2023. It introduced Leonida, "home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond", and set the window as "Coming 2025 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S". That window later slipped twice, as the delays timeline shows.

The video went up ahead of schedule. Guinness states it was "released earlier than scheduled due to a leak a few hours prior". Hence some sites list December 4: in the Americas it was still evening.

The numbers set three records at once, by Guinness:

  • most viewed videogame reveal trailer on YouTube in 24 hours: 90,421,491 views;
  • most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours, non-music, beating MrBeast's 59.4 million;
  • most liked videogame trailer: 8.9 million likes on day one.

YouTube's own blog put the first day at "over 93 million views". The gap is a matter of timing: Guinness certified a snapshot, YouTube kept counting. Fair wording is "over 90 million in a day, 90,421,491 by Guinness".

GTA 6 trailer 2: May 2025

Trailer 2 went up on May 6, 2025 under the line "Explore Vice City and beyond". Rockstar relaunched its GTA VI site at the same time and added wishlist buttons for PS5 and Xbox.

The timing mattered. Four days earlier, on May 2, Rockstar had moved the game from 2025 to May 26, 2026.

Rockstar then claimed more than 475 million views across all platforms in 24 hours, calling it "the fastest-growing video launch in the internet's history". By Game Rant's report, that beat the 365 million of the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, and the total passed 500 million within days. We list this figure as reported: Game Rant cites Rockstar, but we did not open Rockstar's own post with the number.

The Extended Look on Netflix

Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on August 6, 2026. It premiered on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET, then on Rockstar's YouTube channel and site at 9 p.m. ET. Rockstar says it was "captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5".

The premiere came one day after Rockstar's statement on the August leaks, in which it called the game "nearly there". News from that week sits in our GTA 6 news log.

Netflix Top 10 data, reported by Beebom, counted 31.1 million views over four days. It was the top English-language film in 87 of 93 countries, and the YouTube upload passed 17 million views in five days.

Newswire does not list a running time, so we don't quote one.

Is it gameplay? Rockstar's wording is "captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5". It has not said how much of that footage is live play and how much is staged scenes, so treat it as a showcase of the game running on a PS5, not as a recorded play session. What Rockstar has actually confirmed about play is listed in GTA 6 gameplay: what is confirmed.

The radio stations and podcasts came later, on October 8, and have their own page: GTA 6 radio stations and music.

GTA 6 Launch Trailer: October 15, 2026

Rockstar posted the Launch Trailer on Newswire on October 15, 2026: "Check out the new Launch Trailer, featuring new music from electronic duo Justice, composers of the original score from Grand Theft Auto VI". It is the fourth official video, and Rockstar's media page now lists it first.

Rockstar sums up the story in one line: when "an easy score goes wrong", Jason and Lucia "find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America". The post ends with the date: "Grand Theft Auto VI arrives November 19 to PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S". The fixed dates up to launch are in GTA 6 release date.

The post also points to the duo's new standalone single, "Flower in a Hurricane". Rockstar says it is on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the official soundtrack, which you can pre-save on music streaming services or pre-order on vinyl or CD at gtavi-thealbum.com. The post does not say which track plays in the trailer itself. The album and the in-game stations are covered in GTA 6 radio stations and music, and the week's other news is in the GTA 6 news log.

When is GTA 6 trailer 3?

No video is called Trailer 3. The fourth official video came out on October 15, 2026, and Rockstar named it the Launch Trailer. Whether another video comes before launch, Rockstar has not said. If a site names a date for trailer 3, it isn't quoting Rockstar.

What we can give you is the gaps between official videos. These are past intervals, not a forecast.

From To Gap
Trailer 1 (Dec 5, 2023) Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025) 518 days, about 17 months
Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025) Extended Look (Aug 27, 2026) 478 days, about 16 months
Extended Look (Aug 27, 2026) Launch Trailer (Oct 15, 2026) 49 days
Launch Trailer (Oct 15, 2026) Launch (Nov 19, 2026) 35 days

The gaps tell you about the past, not about Rockstar's plans: a launch can bring its own videos on any schedule. The fixed dates to watch are in GTA 6 release date.

Where can you watch the GTA 6 trailers officially?

Rockstar's media page at rockstargames.com/VI/media holds all four videos, along with the rest of the official material:

Section Count
Videos (Launch Trailer, Extended Look, Trailer 2, Trailer 1) 4
Short clips 9
Screenshots 99
Ultimate Edition screenshots 51
Vintage Vice City Pack screenshots 12
Artwork and wallpapers 25

The three earlier videos are also on Rockstar's YouTube channel, and the Launch Trailer has its own Newswire post. Game Informer issue No. 382 added 12 exclusive screenshots in September 2026, and the official music page has short station previews, one to three minutes each by Game Informer's count.

If you only have time for one video, make it the Launch Trailer: it is the newest. Rockstar says the Extended Look was "captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5". Trailers 1 and 2 are short and mostly set the tone and the place. The cast is described in text on Rockstar's Only in Leonida page, and in our GTA 6 characters guide. The GTA 6 FAQ answers the questions people usually have after watching, and the pre-order guide covers the next step if you decide to buy. What each edition contains, in text, is in our editions comparison.

What usually goes wrong

  • Calling the Launch Trailer "Trailer 3". Rockstar named its fourth video the Launch Trailer, and none of its videos is titled "Trailer 3". Edits with that title are not Rockstar videos. If Rockstar's Newswire and media page don't have a video, it isn't real.
  • Leaked footage passed off as a trailer. The videos that have appeared since August 2026 come from an unauthorized work-in-progress build. Rockstar has confirmed none of it, and we don't link it.
  • December 4 or December 5? Both appear, and both are fair. Rockstar's post says December 5; the leak pushed the release into the evening of December 4 in the Americas.
  • Comparing view counts from different sources. 90.4 million (Guinness, YouTube, 24 hours) and 475 million (Rockstar, all platforms, 24 hours) measure different things. Don't put them in one ranking.
  • Watching a re-upload instead of the original. A copy on someone else's channel can be trimmed, sped up or re-edited. The originals are on Rockstar's YouTube channel and at rockstargames.com/VI/media, which also show the real publication date.

What the videos actually confirm, as opposed to what people read into them, is sorted on our confirmed vs rumors board. The rest of our pages on the game are on the GTA 6 hub.
