GTA 6 Release Date: November 19, 2026, Delays and Platforms

Short answer

• Launch: November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar set it on November 6, 2025; Take-Two repeated it on August 7, 2026, and Rockstar again on October 15, 2026, with the Launch Trailer.
• The date has moved twice: from "2025" to May 26, 2026, then to November 19, 2026.
• Pre-load opens on November 12, 2026: digital copies download from local midnight, a code from a box after it is redeemed.
• PS4 and Xbox One are not getting GTA 6. PC has no announcement and no date.
• Rockstar has not posted an unlock hour. Tables you see online come from store data, not from Rockstar.

When does GTA 6 come out?

November 19, 2026. That is the third date Rockstar has given, and the only one it has repeated in every official channel since: the Newswire post of November 6, 2025, the "Coming November 19, 2026" line on rockstargames.com/VI, the Launch Trailer post of October 15, 2026 ("Grand Theft Auto VI arrives November 19 to PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S"), and Take-Two's quarterly report on August 7, 2026, which says the company is reiterating its fiscal 2027 outlook of $8.0 to $8.2 billion in net bookings "with these positive trends and excitement around the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI."

Five dates matter around launch:

The November 12 row is easy to misread. Physical copies are not early copies: the box holds a download code. Boxes can be pre-ordered now; they ship and are ready for pickup from November 12 (expected), so boxed-copy buyers can pre-load too.

Every delay so far, in Rockstar's words

Rockstar has delayed GTA 6 twice, and both times it announced the change itself on Newswire. Here is the full chain, shortened to what Rockstar actually wrote:

The first delay came with an apology and the phrase "we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve." The second was shorter and talked about polish. Neither post mentions a specific feature that was behind schedule, and we are not going to guess at one.

Since November 2025 the date has only been confirmed in official channels, never questioned. Take-Two named November 19 again in its August 7, 2026 report, and Rockstar repeated it in the Launch Trailer post on October 15, 2026. Which platforms get GTA 6 at launch?

Two: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Everything else is either "no" or "not announced", and those are different answers.

If you are on a PS4 or Xbox One, the honest answer is that the game needs a console upgrade. If you are on PC, there is nothing to wait for yet in the official sense; on October 13, 2026 GamesBeat reported, citing four anonymous industry sources, that the PC version is planned for the first three months of 2027, but Rockstar has not confirmed it and there is no Newswire post. What time does GTA 6 unlock?

Rockstar has not announced an hour. Newswire has no post about unlock times, and the official site gives only the date. The only November hour Rockstar has named is for pre-load: local midnight on November 12.

What does exist are fan tables built from PlayStation Store timestamps. They suggest the game opens at midnight local time store region by store region, starting in New Zealand on November 18 by UTC. That is plausible, but it is store data, not a Rockstar statement. Pre-load, pre-order bonus and the dates around launch

Pre-load starts on November 12, 2026: digital pre-orders at local midnight, and a boxed copy as soon as its download code is redeemed, according to Rockstar Support. Rockstar wrote in its pre-order post of June 24 that the point is "to ensure they are able to play at launch on November 19." The download size has not been published yet, so free up space early; the GTA 6 file size and pre-load guide has a download-time table for common connection speeds.

Two bonuses are tied to launch timing:

• Vintage Vice City Pack: every pre-order and every purchase made before November 20, 2026, in either edition.
• One month of GTA+: digital pre-orders only. The subscription renews automatically, so cancel it if you do not want to pay after the free month.

What usually goes wrong

Taking June 25 for the release date. That was the day pre-orders opened. Some videos still show it as "GTA 6 is available on June 25". It was never a launch date.

Thinking the game is out because of leaked footage. Since August 2026, unauthorized videos from a work-in-progress build have circulated online. Rockstar has not confirmed anything in them. Nobody outside Rockstar can buy and play the game before November 19.

Waiting for a PS4 copy. There is none. Rockstar lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and PS4 owners who want to play on day one need a current-generation console.

Reading the Xbox hub as proof of Xbox One or PC. The generic Xbox game hub shows template badges for Xbox One and Windows. The actual store card lists one platform: Xbox Series X|S.

Treating a PC year as a date. You will see "PC in 2027" and similar. Rockstar has not announced a PC version, so every year attached to it is a guess. Since GamesBeat's report of October 13 there are more of these headlines, and "Q1 2027" from anonymous sources is not an announcement either.

What is still not confirmed

Rockstar has not announced:

• the unlock hour on November 19, in any region;
• a PC version, a PC date or PC system requirements;
• the download size on PS5 or Xbox Series;
• an online mode for GTA 6 (Rockstar describes it as "a single player experience");
• a Switch 2 version or cloud streaming plans;
• prices in rubles or tenge. The Rockstar Store, opened from a Kazakhstan address, says the title is unavailable in that region, and Russia and Kazakhstan are not in the country lists of Rockstar Support's Pre-Order Details. Russia's playstation.com game page redirected to a support page on October 18, and we have not checked the Xbox Store for Russia or Kazakhstan.
