Discord Timestamp Generator

Set the date and time of your raid, scrim or stream, then copy the code in the style you want. Discord converts it for every reader, so a player in Berlin and one in Manila both see the right local time.

How to use

  1. Pick the date and time in your local time. The tool reads your time zone from the browser and shows it under the fields.
  2. Look at the preview column: each row shows how the code will look in a message. Pick the style that fits, for example R for a countdown.
  3. Press Copy and paste the code into a Discord message, an embed, or a channel topic.
  4. Press Now to jump back to the current minute if you want a "posted at" stamp.

The 9 styles and what each one shows

A Discord timestamp is <t:UNIX:STYLE>, where UNIX is the number of seconds since 1 January 1970 UTC and STYLE is one letter. Discord's developer documentation lists nine styles. For 20 April 2021, 16:20:30:

StyleShows asGood for
t16:20"Raid starts at …" when the date is obvious
T16:20:30Exact moments, speedrun splits
d20/04/2021Deadlines in a compact list
DApril 20, 2021Patch or season dates
f (default)April 20, 2021 at 16:20Event announcements
FTuesday, April 20, 2021 at 16:20Weekly scrims, where the weekday matters
s20/04/2021, 16:20Tables and schedules
S20/04/2021, 16:20:30Logs with seconds
R4 years ago / in 2 hoursCountdowns: it updates on its own

The exact wording depends on each reader's Discord language and region settings, so a German client prints 20. April 2021. The preview column on this page uses your browser's language, which is usually close to what you will see in Discord. If you leave the style out, <t:1618932630> renders like f. The s and S styles joined the list later than the other seven, which is why older generators skip them.

Why paste a code instead of writing "8 PM EST"

A clan with members in three countries will read "8 PM EST" three different ways, and someone will do the daylight-saving math wrong. A timestamp stores a single moment in UTC and each client renders it in the reader's own zone. Nobody converts anything, and the event post stays correct after the clocks change.

The relative style is the one people like most for raids: <t:…:R> reads "in 3 hours", then "in 5 minutes", then "2 minutes ago", without anyone editing the message. Put it next to an absolute style so people can also plan ahead: Raid <t:…:F> (<t:…:R>).

What usually goes wrong

  • Milliseconds instead of seconds. JavaScript's Date.now() and many converters give 13 digits. Discord wants 10 for current dates. A 13-digit code lands tens of thousands of years in the future.
  • Setting the time in the wrong zone. The fields here are your local time. If you schedule for a team in another country, enter the time as it will be for you, not for them.
  • Wrapping the code in backticks. Inside `inline code` the timestamp is shown as raw text. Paste it as plain message text.
  • Expecting it to work in usernames or nicknames. Timestamps render in message content and embed text; your display name shows the raw characters.
  • Editing the number by hand. Adding 3600 moves the time by one hour, which is fine, but it is easy to slip a digit. Change the date in the fields and copy again.

What makes ours different

Every style Discord documents is here, including s and S, which many older generators lack. The preview is built with your browser's own date formatting, so you see month names and 12- or 24-hour clocks the way your system shows them. The time zone is detected, not asked. If you are setting up a server, the Discord name generator checks usernames against Discord's rules, and the tournament bracket generator pairs well with a timestamped schedule.

Privacy

The date math runs in your browser with the built-in Date and Intl objects. Nothing is sent anywhere; the page does not even need the network once it has loaded.

FAQ

How do I make a Discord timestamp?

Pick the date and time above, copy the row with the style you want, and paste the code into your message. Discord shows it in each reader's own time zone.

How do I make a countdown in Discord?

Use the R style, for example . It shows "in 2 hours" before the moment and "5 minutes ago" after it, and updates without editing the message.

Why does my timestamp show a date thousands of years away?

You pasted milliseconds. Discord expects seconds, so drop the last three digits of a 13-digit number, or generate the code here.

Do Discord timestamps work in embeds and channel names?

They work in message text and embed text. Channel names and usernames show the raw code.

Which style does Discord use if I leave it out?

Style f: the long date with a short time, for example April 20, 2021 at 16:20.

Does it adjust for daylight saving time?

Yes. The code holds one moment in UTC, and each reader's device applies its own offset, including summer time.
