How to use
- Press Start and answer 12 questions. After each answer you see whether you were right and a one-line explanation, so you learn as you go.
- Get your score out of 12 and a rank from Silver to Major MVP, with a card showing the number.
- Share the card in Telegram, WhatsApp, VK, X or Reddit, or save it as an image. Friends who open your link see your result and can try to beat it.
What the quiz covers
The twelve questions are split across four areas so that a player who only grinds Premier and a player who only watches Majors both get a fair shot. Nothing here depends on the current patch: the prices, timers and formats have been stable since CS2 launched, and the history does not change.
| Area | Questions | What you need to know |
|---|---|---|
| Weapons | 2 | Prices of the main rifles, which guns are side-locked |
| Economy | 3 | Starting and maximum money, the loss-bonus ladder, kit and timers |
| Maps and rules | 3 | Callouts, the bomb timer, the MR12 format |
| History | 4 | The Half-Life mod, the engines, the CS2 release, the first CS2 Major |
The numbers in the quiz are the ones that matter in a real match. The AK-47 at $2700 versus the M4 at $2900 is why T sides buy rifles one round earlier. The $16,000 cap is why a team on a winning streak stops caring about kill rewards. The loss-bonus ladder from $1400 to $3400 is the basis of every "save this round, buy next" call. Ten seconds to defuse, five with a kit, and forty seconds on the bomb are the three timers every retake is planned around.
The economy questions, explained
Every player starts a half with $800. The cap is $16,000 in Competitive and Premier. When your team loses a round, each player gets a loss bonus that climbs $1400, $1900, $2400, $2900 and caps at $3400 after five losses in a row; a win reduces the loss count by one instead of resetting it, which is why a team that wins one round after a long losing streak still gets decent money if they lose the next. Winning a round by eliminating the enemy pays $3250; winning by defusing or detonating pays $3500. Planting the bomb gives the planter $300, and if the Ts lose a round in which the bomb was planted, each of them gets an extra $600 on top of the loss bonus in CS2.
Kill rewards depend on the weapon: $300 for a rifle or pistol kill, $600 for most SMGs (the P90 is the exception at $300), $900 for a shotgun, $1500 for a knife and only $100 for an AWP. That last number is why an AWPer who goes 5-0 in a round is not the one buying rifles for the team. If you got the economy questions wrong, this paragraph is the whole cheat sheet.
The history questions, explained
Counter-Strike started in 1999 as a Half-Life mod by Minh Le and Jess Cliffe. Valve hired them and bought the rights in 2000, and Counter-Strike 1.0 shipped that November. Counter-Strike 1.6 became the version that defined the early esports scene. In 2004 Valve released two games: Condition Zero, built on the GoldSrc engine, and Counter-Strike: Source, the first on the Source engine. Global Offensive arrived in 2012, and its first Major, DreamHack Winter 2013, launched the Major system that still runs today.
Counter-Strike 2 was announced on March 22, 2023, as a Limited Test and fully replaced CS:GO on September 27, 2023. It moved the game to Source 2, added volumetric smokes that bullets and grenades can push around, introduced sub-tick input and switched competitive play to MR12, so a match is first to 13 out of 24 regulation rounds. The first CS2 Major was PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, won by Natus Vincere over FaZe Clan 2–1. That is the whole timeline in two paragraphs, and it covers every history question in the quiz.
How scoring and sharing work
Each correct answer is one point. Your final score out of 12 decides the rank: Silver for anything under 5, Gold Nova from 5, Legendary Eagle from 9, Global Elite for 11, and Major MVP only for a perfect 12. The result card shows the rank, the score and a description, and the link you share includes the score, so a friend who opens it sees exactly what you got.
The result screen has buttons for Telegram, WhatsApp, VK, X, Reddit and Facebook, a copy-link button and a "save card" button that downloads a 1200×630 image. The obvious use is a team challenge: post your score in the group chat and see who beats it. Because the explanations appear after every answer, someone who takes the quiz after reading your card has a small advantage, which is exactly the kind of argument a five-stack enjoys.
What makes this quiz different: every fact was checked against the in-game values and the Counter-Strike wikis before it went in, and there are no trick questions about things that change every patch. It runs entirely in your browser, with no registration and no email gate before the score. Privacy: your answers are not sent anywhere; the only thing in the link is your rank id and your score.
FAQ
Are the prices and timers current for CS2?
Yes. The AK-47 at $2700, M4s at $2900, AWP at $4750, defuse kit at $400, the $16,000 cap and the 40-second competitive bomb timer are the CS2 values, checked in September 2026.
Why is the loss bonus capped at $3400?
The ladder is $1400, $1900, $2400, $2900, $3400 based on a loss count from 0 to 4. The count goes up by one after a loss and down by one after a win, so it cannot exceed 4 and the bonus cannot exceed $3400.
Is the bomb timer 40 or 45 seconds?
Both exist. Competitive and Premier use 40 seconds. The default server value is 45 seconds, which some casual and community servers keep. The quiz asks about competitive.
Who made the original Counter-Strike?
Minh Le and Jess Cliffe, as a Half-Life mod released in 1999. Valve acquired the rights in 2000 and has developed the series ever since.
Is the score saved anywhere?
No. It is only in the link you share (the part after #) and in the card image. Nothing is stored on our side.
Can I take it again?
Yes, as many times as you like. The questions stay in the same order so you can compare scores with friends fairly.
