How to use
- Press Start and answer 12 questions. Pick what you actually do in a match, not the answer that sounds like a pro.
- Get your player type with a description, an emoji and one piece of advice that fits how you play.
- Share the card in Telegram, WhatsApp, VK, X or Reddit, or save it as an image. Friends who open your link see your type and can take the quiz themselves.
Eight players you meet in every lobby
These eight types are not official Epic Games terms — they are the roles that show up in any squad after a few hundred matches together. The quiz is built around behaviour, not skill: a Loot Goblin can be a better player than a Builder, they just spend their match differently.
| Type | Signature move | What the quiz is looking for |
|---|---|---|
| The Builder 🧱 | Ramp, box, edit, shoot | Taking height first, hoarding materials, box fight practice |
| The Storm Surfer 🌪️ | Third-party after the fight | Playing the circle edge, patience, timing rotations |
| The Bush Camper 🌿 | Top ten, zero kills | Placement over eliminations, cover, silence on comms |
| The Rooftop Sniper 🎯 | The long shot from the hill | Scopes, angles, avoiding close quarters |
| The Loot Goblin 💎 | Chest number nineteen | Perfect inventory, slow rotations, loot as the reward |
| The Hot Dropper 🪂 | Landing in the crowd | First-minute chaos, fight reps, extreme match lengths |
| The Squad Medic 🩹 | The revive under fire | Pings, callouts, carrying meds, saving teammates |
| The Emote Diplomat 🕺 | The dance over the final crate | Skins, clips, having fun over placing high |
Most squads run three or four of these at once, and the good ones are not accidental combinations. A Builder plus a Squad Medic is the classic pairing: one of them takes the height, the other keeps everyone standing. A Storm Surfer plus a Rooftop Sniper is a rotation machine that wins games nobody saw them play. Four Hot Droppers is a five-minute lobby and a lot of stories. If your squad keeps dying at the same point of the match, look at how many of you answered the same way to question four — the storm question is usually where a squad falls apart.
How the result is calculated
Each answer adds a point to one or two types. Answers are shared on purpose: "planned this two circles ago" gives a point to both the Bush Camper and the Rooftop Sniper, "run in and ping everything" splits between the Squad Medic and the Hot Dropper. Real players are mixtures, and forcing every answer into a single bucket would make the result feel random. After twelve questions the type with the most points wins.
The weights are spread so that all eight results are reachable. There is no answer that quietly decides everything, and no type that only appears once. If two types tie, the one listed first in the set wins — which almost never happens, because twelve questions with four options each give enough separation.
Second place matters more than people expect. Builder plus Storm Surfer means you are an aggressive rotator; Loot Goblin plus Bush Camper means you are playing for placement and enjoying it. Take the quiz again and flip the answers you hesitated on: the pair you get is a better description of your play style than either type alone.
What makes this quiz different: it runs entirely in your browser. No registration, no email before the result, no ad covering the card, and nothing is uploaded anywhere — the scoring is a few lines of JavaScript on this page. The result link only carries your type id after the #, so the friend who opens it sees the same card, not your answers.
Privacy: your answers never leave your device. We do not store them, so there is nothing to delete and nothing to leak.
What your type says about your next ten matches
The tip on your result card is the short version. Here is the longer one, grouped by what usually holds each type back.
Builders and Rooftop Snipers lose to their own comfort zone. A Builder who never practises a close-range shotgun swing gets deleted the moment materials run out; a Sniper with no second weapon is a passenger in the final circle. Both fix the same way: pick the situation you avoid and play twenty minutes of it on purpose.
Storm Surfers and Bush Campers lose to the endgame. Playing the edge and playing the bush both work brilliantly until the circle is the size of a room and there is no edge and no bush left. If that is you, the whole skill gap is in the last ninety seconds of a match, and the only way to practise it is to actually take those fights instead of hoping the other two kill each other.
Loot Goblins and Hot Droppers are opposites with the same problem: match management. One spends the early game collecting things they never use, the other spends it dead. A Loot Goblin who sets a two-minute looting limit and a Hot Dropper who breaks off after two kills to heal both immediately place higher without changing anything else about how they play.
Squad Medics and Emote Diplomats are the reason people keep queueing. If that is your result, the advice is not "get better" — it is to stop apologising for your damage numbers. A squad without a Medic loses winnable fights, and a squad without an Emote Diplomat stops playing together after a bad night. If you want more wins, Zero Build mode rewards both of you: shorter fights, no towers, more time to actually help.
Send it to the squad
The result screen has buttons for Telegram, WhatsApp, VK, X, Reddit and Facebook, a copy-link button, and a "save card" button that downloads a 1200×630 image with your type — the right size for a post, a story or a Discord server banner. On phones that support it you also get a native Share button.
The fun is in comparing. Send the link to your duo or your squad, let everyone take it, and put the four results next to each other. Two Hot Droppers and no Medic explains a lot about last week. Four Loot Goblins explains why you never see the second circle from inside it. And if someone gets a result they refuse to accept, the answers they argue about are usually the honest ones.
Once you have your type, the rest of our Fortnite tools are one click away: a name generator for a tag that matches your play style, a sensitivity converter if you moved over from another shooter, and an aim trainer for the part of the game the quiz just told you that you avoid.
FAQ
Are these official Fortnite player types?
No. Epic Games does not label players like this. These eight archetypes describe behaviour patterns that any squad recognises after a few hundred matches together, and the quiz says so up front.
Is the result saved anywhere?
No. It lives in the link you share (the part after #) and in the card image you can download. Nothing is stored on our side and nothing is sent to a server.
Does it work for Zero Build?
Yes. Six of the eight types play the same way with or without building. The Builder and, to a lesser extent, the Squad Medic change the most in Zero Build, which is why both results mention it.
I got a type I do not like. Can I retake it?
As many times as you want. Change the answers you hesitated on and you will usually land on your second-place type — the pair together is the most accurate description.
Will the quiz go out of date next season?
No. It asks about behaviour, not the current map, loot pool or battle pass, so nothing in it depends on a patch.
