Original Resin refills at 1 unit every 8 minutes up to a cap of 200 — that is 180 a day and 1,260 a week. An empty tank takes 26 hours and 40 minutes to fill, and at the cap the timer simply stops, so anything that could have accrued does not. That single fact drives the whole economy of Genshin Impact: resin is spent daily because it physically cannot be hoarded.
Quick check before anything else: open the map and tap the resin icon — it shows the time to the next unit and to a full tank.
Short answer
- 180 resin a day against a 200 cap. Two days away costs you roughly a full day of farming.
- Every reward set costs 20 resin: 20 plain, 40 for the double claim, 60 through Condensed Resin for a triple.
- The first daily refill is 60 resin for 50 Primogems; the sixth is the same 60 for 200. By then a wish is cheaper.
- Spent resin converts to Adventure EXP at 1:5, so farming also pushes your Adventure Rank.
- Transient Resin expires in a week, Fragile Resin never does — burn Transient first.
What every activity costs
The prices do not scale with your rank. They are identical at AR 25 and at AR 60.
| Activity | Cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Ley Line Outcrop, Blossom of Wealth | 20 | Mora |
| Ley Line Outcrop, Blossom of Revelation | 20 | Character EXP books |
| Domain, standard claim | 20 | Artifacts, talent books, weapon materials |
| Domain, double claim | 40 | The same, in one run |
| Normal boss | 40 | Ascension gems and the elemental drop |
| Weekly boss, first three claims | 30 | High-tier talent materials |
| Weekly boss, after that | 60 | The same at double price |
| Crafting Condensed Resin | 60 | One Condensed Resin = three sets |
| Forging Mystic Enhancement Ore | 10 | 6 ore from 3 Magical Crystal Chunks |
The table also sets the ceiling of a day. 180 resin is nine 20-cost runs, or four and a half boss claims. No single day fits "bosses and talents and artifacts," and trying to fit all three is the usual reason a build stalls.
The order to spend it in
Priority follows whatever runs out first, and what runs out first is Mora and ascension materials.
- Your main DPS's boss. Ascension gems gate every phase; without them the level cap will not move.
- A Domain of Mastery on the right day. Talent books buy the most damage per point of resin.
- Weekly bosses while they still cost 30. The first three claims each week are half price — do not skip them.
- A Domain of Forgery. A weapon at level 80 beats a 5-star sitting at 40.
- Blossom of Wealth. When Mora runs out, and it will.
- Artifacts. Last, and only past Adventure Rank 45.
The order shifts in exactly one situation: before a character you have already decided to pull, it pays to stockpile their boss drops and talent books in advance. Otherwise the week after the wish goes to catch-up farming instead of playing.
Which materials live where, and which days each domain is open, is covered in the guide on where to find ascension materials.
Does Condensed Resin give more rewards?
No. It saves time, not resin.
The recipe unlocks at Liyue Reputation Level 3 or is bought from the blacksmith in Mondstadt or Liyue. Crafting costs 60 Original Resin, one Crystal Core and 100 Mora, and one Condensed Resin claims three reward sets from a Ley Line Blossom or a Petrified Tree in a domain.
The maths is one line.
60 resin ÷ 3 sets = 20 resin per set. Exactly what a plain 20-cost claim gives you.
The double claim behaves the same way: 40 ÷ 2 = 20. There is no efficiency anywhere in the chain — only fewer runs and fewer loading screens.
Three limits are worth knowing. You can hold at most five Condensed Resin. It does not work on normal or weekly bosses at all. And in events that consume resin it is accepted only when the event rules say so.
The one moment it genuinely pays: before a day or two away, when the tank would otherwise sit at the cap. Five Condensed Resin is 300 units rescued from a timer that would have stopped.
Is a Primogem refill ever worth it?
The first one of the day usually is. The sixth almost never.
| Refill | Cost | Resin per Primogem |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | 50 | 1.2 |
| 2nd | 100 | 0.6 |
| 3rd | 100 | 0.6 |
| 4th | 150 | 0.4 |
| 5th | 200 | 0.3 |
| 6th | 200 | 0.3 |
Every refill grants 60 resin and six a day is the ceiling: 360 resin for 800 Primogems in total.
The reference price is a wish — 160 Primogems. The first refill costs under a third of that and buys three domain runs. The sixth costs more than a whole wish for the same three runs.
One detail that catches people out: manual refills go past the 200 cap. The hard ceiling is 2,000, and the refill button locks once you are above 1,940. So a tank can be loaded ahead of a big farming session, provided you have the Fragile Resin to do it with.
Where the Primogems come from without paying is covered in the free Primogems guide. If you are saving toward a specific character, count in wishes rather than resin — the guarantee mechanics are unpacked in the wish pity guide.
Fragile and Transient Resin: which to burn first
Both restore 60 Original Resin. They differ in shelf life and in where they come from.
Fragile Resin keeps forever. It arrives with Adventure Rank rewards, from the Battle Pass (five per period on each track), from the weekly Wayfarer's Supply Bundle bought with Genesis Crystals, and once a year from the Cake for Traveler on your birthday.
Transient Resin expires. The clock starts on the Monday after you obtain it, and it vanishes seven days from then, with each batch counted independently. It comes from the Realm Depot at Trust Rank 6, from the Imaginarium Theater at six Stella, and from Tempered in Practice rewards.
The rule writes itself: Transient first, Fragile second. Either can also be spent directly on a reward screen for a triple claim, which changes nothing in the final total — 60 resin still becomes three sets, just without the intermediate step.
You can exchange at most 20 at a time, so a hoard of 20 Fragile Resin simply will not let you press the button again.
What to do when you cannot log in daily
Resin cannot be frozen, but it can be poured into an item that has no timer.
The working routine before a trip: on the day before, spend down to zero and craft as much Condensed Resin as fits. Five of them is 300 units taken off the clock. While you are away the tank quietly fills its 200 and stops, and the Condensed Resin waits.
The second layer is Fragile Resin. It never spoils, so a small stock works as a buffer: you come back, drain the 200 in the tank, add 60 from a Fragile, and close the domain you missed.
This does not fully compensate for a break. Three days away is 540 resin generated, and you can bank 200 in the tank plus 300 in Condensed. But the difference between losing everything and losing a fifth is worth ten minutes of preparation.
One more detail: Condensed Resin counts toward the Battle Pass "spend Original Resin" objective when you craft it, not when you use it. A small thing that quietly closes a weekly goal while you are away from the keyboard.
What usually goes wrong
The tank sits at 200 "waiting for an event." Symptom: resin stops rising and the timer is blank. Cause: regeneration halts at the cap. Fix: spend at least 120 a day, and craft Condensed Resin before any planned absence — it preserves exactly what would otherwise evaporate.
Condensed Resin taken to a boss. Symptom: no Condensed Resin button on the boss reward screen. Cause: it only works on Ley Line Blossoms and domain Petrified Trees. Fix: run bosses on Original Resin and save Condensed for domains.
Weekly bosses cleared at the end of the week for 60. Symptom: fewer materials for more resin. Cause: the 30-cost price only covers the first three claims each week. Fix: take those three early, while they are cheap.
Transient Resin gone from the inventory. Symptom: there were five, now there are two. Cause: it expired on schedule. Fix: burn it first and read the item description, which shows the time left.
Buying a sixth refill for "one more run." Symptom: Primogems drain, progress does not move. Cause: refill six is 200 Primogems for 60 resin, more than a full wish. Fix: stop after the first or second and accept that the day is over.

FAQ
How much resin do you get per day?
- Original Resin refills at 1 per 8 minutes up to a cap of 200, so an empty tank takes 26 hours 40 minutes to fill. Once it hits 200 the timer stops and everything that could have accrued is simply lost.
Is Condensed Resin more efficient than Original Resin?
No. 60 Original Resin turned into Condensed Resin buys three reward sets, 40 buys two on the reward screen, 20 buys one. That is 20 resin per set in all three cases. Condensed Resin saves loading screens, not resin.
How many times a day can you refill resin with Primogems?
Six. Each refill grants 60 Original Resin, but the price climbs: 50, 100, 100, 150, 200 and 200 Primogems. A full set of six is 360 resin for 800 Primogems — five wishes' worth.
Can Condensed Resin be used on bosses?
No. It only works on Ley Line Blossoms and the Petrified Trees inside domains. Normal bosses and Weekly Bosses accept Original Resin only.
Why did my Transient Resin disappear?
It expires. The clock starts on the Monday after you receive it and the resin vanishes seven days later. Separate batches expire independently, so spend them in the order you got them.
