CS2 Dust 2 smokes in the standard set are 11 smokes plus 15 other grenades (eight flashes, six mollies and one HE), all from the base Dust 2 guide on csnades.gg, checked on October 11, 2026. Each row tells you where to stand, what to aim at, how to throw, the flight time and when csnades last updated the lineup. We describe spots in words with no game screenshots; the link in each row opens a csnades page with a short video. Two map changes in April and July 2026 touch xbox and the area outside tunnels, and we flag the lineups to re-check. If the throw itself is new to you, start with how to throw smokes in CS2.

Short answer

  • First five T smokes: xbox, A cross, CT spawn from xbox, B doors and B window.
  • First three CT smokes: long doors from elevator, B tunnels from CT mid, bottom mid from CT mid.
  • B window is the freshest lineup in the set (updated April 19, 2026); xbox-related lineups predate Valve's April 2026 xbox change.
  • Two T lineups need a timed release while running: A cross (halfway to the lamp) and the back plat molly (on the third footstep).
  • No jump-throw bind: ignored by default since August 19, 2024.

Which smokes to learn first on Dust 2?

Dust 2 has an easy answer, because two independent lists agree. The csnades base guide and a Steam Community guide from January 2025 cover the same T-side areas: xbox, A cross, short, CT spawn, B doors and B window. Our pick for the first five is xbox, A cross and CT spawn for plays through mid and long, plus the two B smokes for a B take. Short comes next.

On CT side, the long doors smoke from elevator is the one to take first: csnades marks it "Loose", so a rough aim still works when you are under pressure. B tunnels and bottom mid, both thrown from CT mid, cover upper tunnels and lower mid.

If you are still working out whether you prefer utility or entry, take the CS2 role quiz before you spend a week on one side's smokes.

T-side smokes

Seven smokes from csnades' base Dust 2 guide. "Jump" means jump and release left click right after.

The two B smokes fly more than eight seconds. Throw them before your team leaves tunnels, or they bloom after the entry. csnades also lists them together as a "window + doors" combination.

CT-side smokes

B tunnels is the only smoke in the set thrown while walking. Walk, then jump and throw; running instead of walking changes the distance.

Molotovs, flashes and the HE

Fifteen lineups from the same base guide. Flashes fly 1.6 s, mollies 1.4 to 2 s.

Molotov: back plat T

Stand: Corner in upper tunnels, line up dirt and wood

Throw: Run, release on 3rd footstep

Watch the throw (csnades)

Molotov: car T

Stand: On the barrel at long doors, top of the black square by the door

Throw: Jump, stand (very precise)

Watch the throw (csnades)

A long CT

Stand: Right of the street sign at CT cross, middle of the wire cover

Throw: Run, left click

Watch the throw (csnades)

Which Dust 2 lineups to re-check after 2026 changes

Valve's release notes list three Dust 2 changes in 2026 around places where these lineups are thrown or land. Every lineup in the table was last updated on csnades before at least one of them.

Date What Valve changed Lineups to check first
Apr 28, 2026 "Uncovered Mid Box (Xbox) to reveal a previously hidden jump spot" Xbox smoke, both CT spawn smokes from xbox, mid doors flash from xbox
Apr 29, 2026 "Blocked visibility through corner of Mid Box (Xbox)" Same group
Jul 8, 2026 Pixel gap fixed and clipping adjusted "Outside Tunnel" B doors and B window smokes, thrown from outside B tunnels

We could not test these in the game ourselves. csnades still lists all 26 as its base set on October 11, 2026, and B window was updated on April 19, 2026, before the July clipping change. Throw each flagged lineup a few times in practice before you rely on it in a match.

How to practise these lineups

Open a practice match on Dust 2 and paste the command block from how to throw smokes in CS2. Then for each row:

  1. Match the spot: stand where the table says and compare with the csnades video.
  2. Aim, then freeze: once the crosshair is on the point, stop moving the mouse.
  3. Throw, rethrow, fly over: use the rethrow key and noclip to see if the smoke closes the gap fully.
  4. Use it in a bot match: a few rounds with only the new lineup.

Sensitivity does not change where a smoke lands; only the aim point does. If your aim feels off after switching games, the sensitivity converter carries your sens across. For small aim points like "between the dots", a clear crosshair helps; see CS2 crosshair codes.

Learning order and binds

Week one: xbox, A cross and CT spawn from xbox. Week two: B doors and B window, then the three CT smokes. After that, add the mollies for the site you play most.

No throw bind is needed. The useful binds are for practice only: rethrow, noclip, grenade camera and trail, all in the throwing guide.

What usually goes wrong

The xbox smoke lands differently than in an old video. Valve changed the mid box itself in April 2026, after the lineup's last update. Look for a csnades video newer than April 28, 2026, or test the landing yourself with rethrow and noclip.

A cross smoke is too short or too long. It is a running throw released halfway to the lamp. Releasing earlier or later moves the smoke. Practise the release point until it is the same every time.

B smokes bloom after your team is already on site. At 8.3 and 8.4 seconds they are the slowest in the set. Throw them first, while the team is still in tunnels.

The car molly misses. It is thrown standing on a barrel and marked "Very Precise". If you are not on the barrel, the angle is wrong from the start.

A jump smoke goes long or short every other time. A jump-throw bind has done nothing since August 2024. Release the grenade right after you press jump and listen for the confirmation sound.

After Dust 2, try Mirage smokes, then Inferno smokes, where more lineups need checking. The random CS2 map picker can pick your next practice map, CS2 launch options covers the settings side, and the CS2 weapons tier list helps with the buy. Every CS2 page is in the CS2 hub and on the guides page.

FAQ

Which Dust 2 smokes should I learn first?

On T side: xbox from T spawn, A cross from long doors, CT spawn from xbox, then B doors and B window from outside B tunnels. On CT side: long doors from elevator, B tunnels and bottom mid from CT mid.

Do Dust 2 lineups need a jump throw bind?

No. Since August 19, 2024 jump-throw binds are ignored by default, and a plain jump followed by a quick throw lands the same way every time.

Does the xbox smoke still work after the April 2026 update?

Check it first. Valve uncovered the mid box (xbox) on April 28, 2026 and blocked visibility through its corner on April 29; csnades last updated the xbox smoke on June 27, 2024.

Are these Dust 2 lineups still valid in 2026?

csnades keeps all 26 in its base guide on October 11, 2026. B window is the freshest, updated April 19, 2026; most others date from 2023 and 2024, so watch the video before relying on them.

Where can I watch each throw?

Every row links to its csnades page with a short video. We describe positions in words only and do not use game screenshots.

How do I practise them?

Open a practice match on Dust 2, paste the command block from our guide on how to throw smokes in CS2 and repeat throws with sv_rethrow_last_grenade.
