How to use
- Enter your mouse DPI. Most gaming mice ship at 800 or 1600; the exact value is in the mouse software or printed in the manual.
- Enter the in-game sensitivity exactly as it appears in the game settings (CS2
2.0, Valorant0.35, Apex1.5). - Pick the game. eDPI itself is the same everywhere, but the cm/360 and the "vs pros" verdict depend on the game's turn rate.
- Read the results: eDPI, cm/360°, inches/360° and a comparison with the pro range. The table below shows eDPI for common DPI × sens combinations so you can find a neighbour value fast.
What eDPI is and the formula
eDPI (effective DPI) is a single number that describes how fast you turn regardless of the DPI / sensitivity split you chose:
eDPI = DPI × in-game sensitivity
Example: 800 DPI and 0.5 sensitivity give 400 eDPI. So do 400 DPI × 1.0 and 1600 DPI × 0.25 — all three feel identical in the same game. That is exactly why people quote eDPI instead of "my sens is 1.9": a CS2 player on 400 DPI × 1.9 (760 eDPI) and one on 800 DPI × 0.95 (760 eDPI) turn at the same speed.
The one thing eDPI does not do is compare across games. Every engine multiplies the sensitivity by its own "yaw" — degrees of rotation per mouse count. CS2 and Apex use 0.022, Valorant 0.07, Overwatch 2 and Call of Duty 0.0066. That is why 400 eDPI is very fast in Valorant and quite slow in CS2. For cross-game comparison use the cm/360 figure the calculator shows next to eDPI: cm/360 = 360 / (yaw × eDPI) × 2.54. At 760 eDPI in CS2 that is 54.7 cm; at 280 eDPI in Valorant it is 46.7 cm.
Pro eDPI ranges by game
Numbers below come from the public pro settings tables on ProSettings (September 2026 lists) and the ranges other calculators publish. They are ranges, not targets — the pros inside them differ by a factor of two.

The "vs pros" badge in the calculator uses these bands. A low eDPI means big arm movements and very stable tracking; a high one means quick 180° flicks but less forgiveness for micro-adjustments. Neither is better — but if you are far outside the band with a small mousepad, you are probably fighting your setup.
How to use eDPI in practice
Changing DPI without changing feel. Want to move from 400 to 800 DPI for smoother cursor movement on the desktop? Keep the eDPI: halve the in-game sensitivity. 400 × 1.9 = 760 → 800 × 0.95 = 760. The new sens = old sens × old DPI / new DPI rule is built into the table under the calculator.
Copying a pro. Never copy the sensitivity number alone. Copy the eDPI, then divide by your DPI. ZywOo's 400 × 1.9 on your 1600 DPI mouse becomes 1600 × 0.475.
Finding your own value. A quick method that works in CS2, Valorant and Apex alike: set a value in the middle of the pro band, play three matches, then move 10–15 % up or down depending on whether you overshoot or undershoot targets. Two or three rounds of this usually land within the band. Record the eDPI, not the sens — you will thank yourself when you buy a new mouse.
Mousepad check. A 45 cm-wide pad comfortably covers about 35 cm of travel. If your cm/360 is above that, a 180° turn already needs a lift — either raise eDPI or buy a wider pad.
What makes ours different
Most eDPI pages are a single multiplication and an ad wall. Ours adds the two things that actually matter for decisions: the cm/360 conversion using the real yaw of the selected game (so the same eDPI is correctly judged as fast in Valorant and slow in CS2), and a "vs pros" band per game built from public pro settings. The table of common DPI × sensitivity pairs is generated for the game you picked, so you can see neighbouring values without retyping. Everything runs in the browser, there is no sign-up, no limit and no ad covering the inputs.
Privacy
Nothing you type leaves the page. DPI and sensitivity values are used by a small script in your browser and are not stored or sent anywhere. The page loads an analytics script, but your numbers are never part of a request.
FAQ
What is a good eDPI for CS2?
The pro tables on ProSettings cluster between roughly 700 and 1000 eDPI (ZywOo 760, donk 1000, NiKo 720). Anything from 600 to 1100 is normal; beginners often do better slightly lower because it forces arm aiming.
What is a good eDPI for Valorant?
Most pros run 800 DPI with 0.25–0.5 sensitivity, i.e. about 200–400 eDPI. Valorant's yaw is 0.07, so its eDPI numbers are about 3.18× smaller than CS2 values for the same real-world speed.
Is eDPI the same as DPI?
No. DPI is a mouse setting (counts per inch of movement). eDPI multiplies it by the in-game sensitivity, so it describes the final turning speed rather than the mouse alone.
Can I compare eDPI between CS2 and Valorant?
Not directly — each game has its own turn rate per count. Use the cm/360 figure shown by the calculator, or our sensitivity converter, which keeps cm/360 identical across games.
Does Windows pointer speed affect eDPI?
Only if it is off the 6/11 default or "Enhance pointer precision" is on; then Windows scales mouse input before the game sees it. Keep the slider at 6/11 and the checkbox off, or your eDPI number will not match your real speed.
Should I use 400, 800 or 1600 DPI?
For eDPI it makes no difference as long as you adjust the sensitivity. Higher DPI gives finer steps at the same eDPI and a less jumpy desktop cursor; 800 or 1600 is the common choice today. Pick one and never change it — the in-game number is what you tune.
