The error, and how to get past it

"Incorrect combination of characters entered" is not a length problem. If the name were too long the field would stop you earlier. The error means the filter found something it will not store: a glyph outside the whitelist, or a run of decorative characters it treats as an attack on its own parser.

The repair procedure, in order:

1. Remove the rarest single character — the Egyptian-style glyph, the odd arrow, the box-drawing piece.
2. If it still fails, drop to one decoration total: one frame pair or one mark, never both.
3. If it still fails, strip to plain letters and add decoration back one character at a time. The step that breaks it is the one to keep out.

Changing your nickname

Open your profile, tap the current name, paste the new one and confirm. Paste rather than retype — small caps and gothic cannot be entered from a phone keyboard, and a nickname that looks right in a browser but was retyped by hand is usually a different string.

Two practical notes. The rename is a paid action, and we could not verify a current price from any source we can actually check, so read the number the game shows you before confirming rather than trusting a figure from an article. And if the name saves but comes back shorter than what you pasted, the filter removed a character — that is your signal to swap it for one from the list above.

Picking one that lasts

Cyrillic is the shortcut. Latin words at 16 characters have been mined for years. Russian words of the same length are mostly free, and they read cleanly for every player because the game renders the script natively.

One decoration. A frame plus a mark plus a font swap is noise. Every name in the tables above carries exactly one, which is why they stay readable at kill-feed size.

Match the tag to the squad, not the other way round.
