eDPI is your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity, and it exists so two players can compare aim settings without also comparing mice. 800 DPI at 1.0 and 400 DPI at 2.0 are the same eDPI of 800 and feel identical in CS2. The catch is that eDPI only compares inside one game: CS2 pros sit around 720-1236 while Valorant pros sit around 160-320, and those two ranges describe almost the same hand movement. Below are dated tables of what real professionals run, and a three-step way to land on your own number instead of copying theirs.
The formula, and the number that actually matters
eDPI = mouse DPI × in-game sensitivity
That is the whole calculation. It is useful because it collapses two settings into one, and useless the moment you cross games, because each game turns the camera a different amount per mouse count.
The measure that survives the crossing is cm/360 — how many centimetres of mousepad a full turn costs you. That number is physical, so it is comparable between CS2, Valorant, Fortnite and anything else. Our eDPI calculator shows both at once, and the cm/360 calculator gives you the distance on its own.
The cm/360 column in the tables below is calculated from the DPI and sensitivity in the same source row, using the standard turn constants for each game. It is our arithmetic, not a figure the sources publish.
CS2 pro settings
Figures from Liquipedia, which dates every settings table it keeps. The date is part of the data — some of these snapshots are years old, and players do change.

Three things repeat across all five rows and are worth more than the sensitivity numbers themselves: DPI is always 400, 800 or 1600, zoom sensitivity is 1, and raw input is on with Windows pointer speed at 6/11. That last combination is the one the r/GlobalOffensive configuration wiki recommends, and it exists so Windows does not scale your movement before the game sees it.
Note also that the spread is not small. NiKo and s1mple differ by a factor of 1.7, which is the difference between a wrist player and a forearm player. There is no consensus number to copy.
Valorant pro settings
Valorant states sensitivity on a different scale, so the eDPI values look tiny next to CS2's. They describe a similar hand movement.

Two honest notes on this table. First, the two 160-eDPI rows are unusually low even by tactical-shooter standards, and TenZ is a case where the sources disagree — Liquipedia's January 2024 snapshot lists 0.08 rather than 0.1, which would make his eDPI 128. Second, this is exactly why you should treat any pro settings table, including this one, as a photograph rather than a rule.
Why the two tables cannot be compared directly
A CS2 player on 1000 eDPI and a Valorant player on 300 eDPI are doing nearly the same thing with their arm. If you play both games and set them to the same eDPI, one of them will feel broken.
Use the sensitivity converter instead: it keeps the physical distance identical across games, which is the only thing your muscle memory actually stores. The same applies if you change mouse DPI — the DPI calculator recomputes the in-game sensitivity so the feel survives a hardware change.

Read the table sideways rather than down: 800 eDPI in CS2 and 250 in Valorant are the same hand movement, which is the point.
How to pick your own eDPI
The r/GlobalOffensive mouse wiki gives the two-part test that still holds up, and it does not mention pros at all. Your combination of DPI and sensitivity has to let you:
- place the crosshair on every single pixel without it skipping — if it skips, the sensitivity is too high;
- turn 180 degrees quickly and accurately on a normal 300 mm pad.
The wiki's own conclusion is that this usually lands people at 12-30 cm for a 180 degree turn, which is 24-60 cm per 360. Every pro in both tables above except the two 160-eDPI outliers falls inside that band.
So, three steps:
- Set DPI first and forget it. Use your sensor's native CPI, or a clean fraction of it. 800 is a safe default.
- Find your cm/360 by feel, not by number. Aim at a wall, turn a full circle, adjust until a comfortable arm sweep does it. Then read what that is in the calculator.
- Write the number down and stop touching it. A mediocre sensitivity you have used for three months beats a perfect one you adopted yesterday.
The settings around eDPI that also matter
- Raw input on. Without it, Windows pointer speed scales your movement before the game reads it. The CS2 configuration wiki says to enable it unless you are on exactly 6/11.
- Mouse acceleration off. The wiki calls out consistency as the goal: eliminate variables like acceleration and prediction.
- Zoom sensitivity 1. All five CS2 players above run it. It keeps scoped aim proportional to hipfire, so you learn one relationship rather than two.
- Polling rate. The tables show 1000, 2000 and 4000 Hz, so there is no single professional standard. Higher polling costs CPU time, and the PC Optimization Hub is worth reading before assuming more is free.
Moving to a new number
Changing sensitivity breaks your muscle memory for a few days, so do it once and properly rather than a little every evening.
- Change one thing. Either the DPI or the in-game sensitivity, not both, or you will not know which change you are feeling.
- Recompute what depends on it. If the DPI moved, the DPI calculator restores the old feel, and the converter restores the same distance in your other games.
- Let your hand adapt before judging. The first matches after a change are always worse; that is not a verdict on the new number.
The principle the r/GlobalOffensive wiki repeats more than any other is to use settings that provide consistency. A number you change every week cannot provide it, however correct it is.
Common mistakes
- Copying a pro's number instead of their method. Their arm length, pad size, desk height and grip are not yours.
- Changing sensitivity after a bad session. The sensitivity was the same in your good sessions.
- Chasing high DPI. The mouse wiki is blunt: high CPI is not better and is often detrimental, because sensors can sacrifice perfect control speed and introduce jitter or interpolation at extreme settings.
- Ignoring the pad. A 180 degree turn that needs more space than you have is not a sensitivity you can use, whatever the number says.
FAQ
What is a good eDPI for CS2?
There is no single right number, but the pro snapshots in this guide land between 720 and 1236, which is roughly 34 to 58 cm for a full 360 degree turn. If you are starting out, pick 800 DPI with a sensitivity that puts you near 40 cm and adjust from there. What matters is that the number stays the same long enough for your hand to learn it.
Can I compare my CS2 eDPI with a Valorant player's?
No. The two games turn a different amount for the same mouse count, so equal eDPI does not mean equal aim. CS2 pros in these tables sit near 800-1200 eDPI while Valorant pros sit near 160-320, and both groups end up in a similar centimetres-per-360 range. Compare cm/360, or convert properly.
Is higher DPI better?
No, and the r/GlobalOffensive mouse wiki has said so for years: high CPI settings can cost perfect control speed and introduce jitter or interpolation. Use your sensor's native CPI or a clean fraction of it. 400, 800 and 1600 are the values almost every pro in these tables runs.
Does zoom sensitivity change my eDPI?
No. eDPI is DPI times your base in-game sensitivity; the zoom or scoped multiplier is a separate setting applied on top of it. Every CS2 player in these tables runs zoom sensitivity 1, which keeps scoped aim in the same proportion as hipfire.
How often should I change my sensitivity?
Rarely. The point of a fixed eDPI is that the same physical hand movement always means the same in-game angle. Change it when something concrete is wrong - you cannot turn 180 degrees on your pad, or you cannot hold the crosshair on a head - and then leave it alone for weeks.
