Q: Which symbols are safest in a PUBG Mobile name?

A PUBG Mobile name has to fit 14 characters, cannot contain a space, cannot contain emoji, and has to be unique — and changing it costs a Rename Card that is consumed the moment you confirm. So the sensible order is: build the name, check it, then spend the card. What the game accepts

There is no public character specification. The official support portal does not publish one, and we could not retrieve a naming article from it. The table below is the working set from player testing and from our open nickname dataset.

Two things follow. First, a symbol takes the place a space would have taken — that is the entire reason Zone彡Read looks the way it does rather than being a stylistic choice. Second, at 14 characters you have room for a real word plus a tag, which is more freedom than Free Fire's twelve and less than Standoff 2's sixteen.

How the Rename Card actually works

The clearest statement we found comes from the r/PUBGMobile moderator account answering a September 2025 question about whether the name reverts. Their answer: the line "Use this to change your name once per day" refers to how often the card can be used, not to the name — once used, the new name is permanent and the card is gone.

The steps:

Open your inventory and find the Rename Card.
Use it, then paste the finished name into the field. Paste rather than type: small caps and gothic letters cannot be entered from a phone keyboard.
Confirm. If the name is already taken, the game refuses and you keep trying with the same card until one goes through — but if it saves with a symbol missing, that card is spent.

On free cards: threads from July and November 2025 discuss a welcome-back Rename Card granted after a stretch of not logging in, with players naming windows of roughly seven to eight days and disagreeing about whether it still fires. Nothing about it is documented officially, so plan around buying one and treat a free card as a bonus.

Building a name that fits

Fourteen characters, no spaces. The three patterns that use that budget well:

Word plus tag. Nine or ten letters, one symbol on one side. Reads cleanly in the kill feed, survives the filter, easy to say on comms.

Two words joined by a mark. Zone彡Read, Hot乂Drop. The mark does the job of a space and costs one character. This is the most common shape in the tables below because it is the one that works.

What does not work: stacking combining accents, colour emoji, and symbols with an emoji presentation on some devices, such as a lightning bolt or a skull.
